Anita is an experienced teacher and a lecturer in Initial Teacher Education at the University of Exeter. Her fields of interest are Education for Sustainable Development and multilingualism. Beginning her career as a teacher in London, Anita worked overseas in the charity sector before moving into academia where she has experience in both Primary and Secondary teacher education.
She created and leads the Schools Across the Ocean Programme. This award-winning and internationally recognised programme connects school communities. Through a trans-disciplinary and researched-informed approach, it provides innovative teacher education in climate and ocean literacy. The Schools Across the Ocean programme empowers teachers and school communities to embed climate education within their curriculum. It amplifies children’s powerful voices in dialogues around ocean health and climate change on a local level and, also, on the global stage at COP climate conferences.
