‘We Are The Possible’ has won a Falling Walls Engage 2024 award.
The multidisciplinary project at the University of Exeter was selected as a global winner in the category of ‘Science Engagement’ with a special focus on climate change and adaptation. It had previously been shortlisted among 30 finalists from 136 global applications
Cecilia Manosa Nyblon, Director of We Are the Possible, has now been invited to Berlin by the Falling Walls Foundation – a not-for-profit organisation in Germany connecting science, business, and society – to pitch at its Science Summit 2024.
Building on the work undertaken at COPs 26 and 27, We Are The Possible brought together hundreds of people from the UK and UAE to reflect upon the plight of the planet and deliver a creative and inspiring response to catalyse climate actions and solutions.
Its artistic outputs included poetry, sustainable theatre, music and soundscapes, and artwork, and were shared with delegates at COP28 and members of the public in both the UAE and the UK. It also established a network of coastal schools in both countries, who shared learning opportunities and worked collaboratively on an illustrated children’s poetry anthology.
Project partners included the Emirates Literature Foundation, the Met Office, BIMM Institute, the University of Khorfakkan, the Theatre of Others, the British Embassy in the UAE, and a host of schools.
The project has also been nominated for a 2024 Knowledge Exchange Award.
