In the spring of 2023, We Are The Possible’s project team drew together 200 scientists, health practitioners, writers, youth leaders, artists, and educators in the UK and UAE across a series of online creative workshops. Together, they responded to COP28 themes and produced a shared body of writing.
Through a unique editorial process led by Dr Sally Flint, the project’s creative writer and editorial lead, and award winning poet Kim Squirrell, this writing evolved into We Are The Possible – 12 Poems for 12 Days of COP28. The poems have been translated into Arabic by a team of translation postgraduate students at the University supported by the editorial expertise of award winning Lebanese author and translator Wafa’ Tarnowska. They will be released as both a bilingual anthology and via a series of digital recordings.
You will find a copy of the anthology below, and the recordings will be released daily during COP28. (click on the ‘full screen’ option for the optimum reading experience’). You will also find a link to the performance area of the project, which has been inspired by the poetry.
