We Are The Ocean is the inspiring new illustrated poetry anthology co-created by school children in the UK and UAE – the first of its kind.

The 12 poems, written in both English and Arabic, capture the voices of 400 children, aged 10-12, who were brought together through the Schools Across The Ocean project. Via a series of creative workshops, the children responded intuitively to the topic of the ocean, and their voices and illustrations have been immortalised in this new book.

Published by the Emirates Literature Foundation, We Are The Ocean has been taken to COP28 and presented to world-leaders and shared at a number of events, including the Dubai showcase at the Mohamed Bin Rashid Library, and is being formally launched at the UAE Ministry of Education’s Greening Education Hub on ‘Ocean Day’ at COP. The anthology also includes a foreword from Her Excellency Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, President of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and UN Climate High Level Champion for COP28, and Edward Hobart CMG, His Majesty’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
